How Loada Balls Started -From Sloan's Gym to Your Doorstep

Loada Balls was born in 2023 at Sloan's Gym in Belfast City Centre, and it started with a simple frustration. The protein snacks on the market tasted terrible, and the team at Sloan's knew their members deserved better. So John, Johnny and Curtis took matters into their own hands.

What began as kitchen experiments for gym members, using real ingredients like peanut butter, almond butter, pure honey, coconut and mixed nuts, quickly became something people couldn't stop talking about. Within months, a local gym snack had turned into Belfast's most exciting new food brand.

Handcrafted Protein Balls & Bars Made With Real Ingredients

Getting the recipes right took time, dedication and a lot of very willing taste-testers in the gym. Janine, our Head of Production, led the development of every flavour, crafting protein balls and bars using natural ingredients like peanut butter, almond butter, pure honey, coconut and mixed nuts.

The brief was simple: every bite had to taste incredible first. The protein content minimum 5g per ball, at least 15g per bar had to come second. That philosophy is why our White Caramelised Crumble Ball went on to win Gold at the UK Quality Food Awards, and why customers keep coming back.

From St. George's Market to Spar Growing Across Belfast & Beyond

The real test came when we took Loada Balls to St. George's Market, Belfast's most iconic food market and one of the best markets in the UK. The response was immediate. We earned a permanent spot at the market and quickly became a staple for locals and visitors alike.

From there, growth came fast. Loada Balls are now stocked in Spar, Centra & Mace stores across Northern Ireland, featured in food industry press, and available for delivery across the UK and Ireland. In 2025, our White Caramelised Crumble Ball and Peanut Butter & Caramel Ball were recognised at the UK Quality Food Awards, winning Gold and Bronze respectively.
